Co-Curricular Activity
About usCo-curricular activities have been incorporated into the curriculum to foster holistic development by adopting multifarious approach. Moreover, these activities of today can form the foundation for career options of tomorrow.
Student Council is formed every year to empower students with the responsibility of upholding the dignity of school and maintaining decorum. The Council members comprise of School Captain, Head Boy, Head Girl, Vice Head Boy, Vice Head Girl, Sports Captain, Senior House Captains, Coordinators, Discipline Incharges and Activity Incharges. The council works actively in coordination with the teachers to promote a better learning environment.
The school is divided into four houses to promote healthy competition and inspire students to adopt the ideals and philosophies of the people after whom the houses are named. These houses are:
Maharaja Ranjit Singh House (Green)
Shaheed Bhagat Singh House (Red)
Prof. Mohan Singh House (Yellow)
Bhai Veer Singh House (Blue)
Painting, clay modelling, fabric painting, paper machhe, needle work, commercial art, rangoli, flower arrangement, face painting and sketching are taught in the school to enhance the artistic skills of students and bring out their creativity and innovation.
Music
Training in vocal as well as instrumental music is given. To spark the children’s creativity, classical, semi- classical, folk, devotional as well as patriotic songs are taught. They are encouraged to create their own unique music by playing an instrument of their choice. We offer a plethora of western as well as traditional instruments like guitar, keyboard, drums, congo, banjo, octopod, tabla, dilruba, taus, rabab, mandolin and violin.
School Band
Students can also be a part of the school band and learn to play various instruments and perform drills.
Dance
Classical, semi-classical as well as folk dances are taught to make the students appreciate the rich cultural heritage of our country. In addition to this, they are also trained in various types of western dances like salsa, hip-hop, Russian, locking and popping
Our school has NCC associated with 4 PB AIR SQN in which 100 cadets including girls and boys from class VIII and IX are enrolled every year. The cadets attend training camps where rigorous training in shooting, trekking, group tasks, first aid and fire extinguishing is given.
The students of all age groups are encouraged to pursue a sport according to their inclination and acquire special skills through practice sessions in the morning as well as evening. Specialised coaching as well as best sporting equipment is provided to maximise their potential and excel. We offer a wide variety of sports like Athletics, Basketball, Badminton, Cricket, Handball, Football, Roller Skating, Karate, Table Tennis, Yoga
Sahodaya Inter- School, Hubs of Learning, SOF, NTSE, Inter-House and Inter- Class competitions are organized throughout the year and a wide array of activities is covered under these. Students actively participate in debates, declamations, quiz, recitation, group discussions and extempore. Singing, dance, painting and model making competitions are also organized to polish the talent of the students. The inter-house competitions and participation as a team generate strong bonding, leadership qualities and team spirit.
All national as well as religious festivals are celebrated to inculcate in students respect for all religions, national pride and spirit of oneness. Important International Days are also celebrated to educate students on topics that need global concern. Besides these, the major events celebrated annually are Prize Distribution Function, Athletics Meet, Science Fest and Gurpurab.
Seminars on Life skills, health and hygiene, adolescent problems, road safety, cybercrime and career counselling are an integral part of the curriculum as they sensitise the young minds and provide an enriching experience and knowledge that goes beyond the books.
One day trips, adventure trips, field trips and even tours outside India are organised to broaden the horizon of the students and to make their learning experience innovative, unforgettable and unique. These are planned effectively and all plans are clearly communicated to the parents keeping in mind the safety and comfort of students.
Summer camps are organised every year to re-energize and revitalize the pupils. Through participation in a variety of activities like art and craft, music and dance, sports and computer apps, they learn new skills and all this happens in a fun-filled, non-intimidating environment.
Divinity classes are conducted to nurture spirituality and strengthen the values and ethos enshrined in the teachings of our Gurus. Students recite banis and hymns from Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji. Ardas too is rendered by them. Significant knowledge about equality of all religions, love for humanity and belief in one God is disseminated.
To imbibe values of responsibility towards society and to make them principled citizens, the students are given first-hand experience by involving them in various social activities. These range from contributing food every Wednesday to needy through Eknoor Sewa Society, donating basic essentials and providing financial assistance at the time of natural disasters and even Covid-19 pandemic, tree plantation drive and visit to old age home and orphanage. It is a matter of pride that young Nankians volunteer their services during Special Olympics which is conducted in the school for special children annually.
